Golden Airport, (ICAO: CYGE), is located in the town of Golden, British Columbia.
Signage on the bank of the Columbia River describes the navigation of the river by the explorer David Thompson. In 1807, he paddled by what is now known as Golden, with his wife and children.
The first settlement was established in 1882, while Major AB Rogers was searching for a route through the Selkirk Mountains for the Canadian Pacific Railway's transcontinental railway. Golden City became a base camp for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) as it extended its line further and further west. After 1885, with the railway in operation, the town abbreviated its name to just "Golden," but began to grow in both size and prosperity.
Golden Municipal Airport is located within the Town of Golden and is home to a variety of aviation businesses including helicopter charter and maintenance, aviation fuelling, and private aircraft owners.
The airport has a single, asphalt runway (14-32 4,528 ft x 75 ft) with an elevation of 2,575 feet.
The runway is serviceable throughout the year but is restricted to certain aircraft limitations.
